My name is Ashcroft Merrylegs, and this is my website. Apparently my funny name comes from a variety of apple used for making Cider.

I am a Huacaya alpaca and I was born at 12.30 pm on 28 August 2002, weighing 12 kg. I live in an isolated valley on the South West tip of the Cotswolds (my owner calls it the "Cotswold altiplano" when he gets overexcited talking about alpacas, which happens quite often !) My fleece is Pale Fawn, very soft and lustrous, and I weigh 44 kilos.

My first trip away from home was last summer, when my mum went back to Wallingford to be remated to my dad. My dad is a big white Peruvian alpaca called Blenheim Accoyo Don Carlos, and he's part of the alpaca aristocracy. My owner says he wants my mum to produce another cria just like me.

Last month I was taken to the Royal Bath & West Show. I was very nervous meeting all these other alpacas ( I kept muttering to myself), but I won my class (Junior Fawn) and was awarded two Championship Ribbons (Best Junior Female and Best Fawn). That's why I have been given my own website.

At the end of June, I am going to the Royal Show,
where I will be launching my own video

Merrylegs & Friends - A Year in the Life of an Alpaca

Production of the video will start after I have been shorn. It will cost £12.95 and will be released on 1 September. If you want to know what is in the video, or to keep in touch with what's happening to me and my alpaca friends & relations at Ashcroft, please send me an email. (I'm not into texting yet.)
